About

Dr. Kristine Danback

Dr. Kristine Danback holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the Derner Institute at Adelphi University and has been in private practice for over 30 years. She is licensed in New York and Connecticut and works exclusively via telehealth.

She is also a survivor of narcissistic abuse and a high-conflict divorce. That experience is not incidental to her work — it is central to it. She has spent 30 years in her own psychoanalytic treatment. She understands this from both sides of the room, and every clinician she has brought onto this team does too.

She founded Random Thoughts Psychological Therapy, PC with one clear intention: to go where the pain actually lives. Not surface-level support. Active, engaged, depth-oriented work that makes the unconscious conscious — and in doing so, gives people back their ability to choose. Insight restores choice. And choice changes lives.

Kristine is the mother of three sons. Navigating her own high-conflict divorce while raising her family gave her a firsthand understanding of what it means to hold yourself together when everything feels disorienting — and it is part of why this practice serves people through all of life’s hardest chapters, not just one.

“Resilience is the ability to remain engaged with life despite heartbreak, failure, uncertainty, and loss — to love despite heartbreak, create despite failure, and choose despite uncertainty.”

How the work gets done

Kristine works from a psychodynamic and psychoanalytic foundation — the work of mentalization: learning to see yourself and others with greater depth, accuracy, and perspective. The work goes to the root. Not just the symptoms you are managing today, but the patterns and history that keep recreating them. The goal is not coping. It is change. Making the unconscious conscious is how people get their lives back.
